Enabling the energy transition by using less energy and reducing emissions in rock comminution
I-ROX is developing a transformative solution for comminution in mining that can cut energy consumption significantly and reduce the carbon footprint of mines worldwide
By using pulsed power to break rocks from the inside instead of crushing them from the outside, I-ROX eliminates entire parts of the traditional milling process, cutting costs for both electricity and replacement parts. The solution can also increase the amount of metal recovered from the ore, improving the profitability of a mine.
The crushing and grinding process is the single most energy-intensive and expensive aspect of the entire mining process – estimated to use approximately 4% of all electrical energy globally. I-ROX aims to reduce that carbon footprint by as much as 80%.
